who are you thinking you are huh? :confused: I downloaded all the parts of your CD1 upload but what the hell? it says "CRC error".
Man where the hell were your mind when you were uploading those files..... WHERE HAD MY ADSL QUOTA GONE TO just for nothing man juyst for nuthing...I spent my 700 MB quota just for nothing.... PLS NOW PAY ME BACK CUZ your damn zip extracting doesnT work....

I've gone through all of disc 1 and its perfectly fine. Now I'm stuck on disc 2. Please help me. I am stuck in the part where you have just set Balamb Garden in motion and they sent you to look outside. The cutscene plays and then it leaves you stranded on the spot your in.

I've download it but isn't work on my psx - just black screen, befeore should appear Squaresoft logo... I'm sure i don't make any mistake... So, Can anybody tell me what is wrong? ; )

Final Fantasy VIII is the only FF whos run proper without special fixes,think you have just misconfigurated the Plug Ins,use pSX 1.13 (http://psxemulator.gazaxian.com/) if you're too lazy to configure ePSXe.

I've been really, really curious about it for quite awhile...~_~

But, you can BURN it on a CD and play it on PS/2 right? Coz, even if I 'do' install and emulator on mah computer...it's still no use. My game's just going to mess up coz mah computer's gay. D:

So I hope if someone can answer my question, please do. Coz I really wanna know as soon as possible. I wanna finish this game already. ~,~

I burnt it to CD and it works perfectly fine on my PSX.

well maybe i can help you out I use this settings and the game runs fine it gets att litte slow like 30 fps before entering a battle but thats okay

I've burnt twice too, on two different computers, using two different programs, but the same thing happens to me.

I put it in the PSX, and it shows the white Sony screen, then the black Sony screen, but never gets to the Squaresoft title. It's almost like it isn't booting properly.

I've even tried using official FF8 disc 2, and putting in my burnt disc 1 when prompted, but it says CAUTION, WRONG DISC, and boots me back to the Insert Disc 1 screen.

The weird thing is that if I use ePSXe and go Run CD-ROM, both discs I've burnt work fine.

I burnt using Nero, and CDRWin, and even tried making my own generic cue file. Going to try Alcohol next. If I have any success, I'll post here so that others with the same problem can get theirs working.

Does anyone know how to get this working?

I've used 5 CDs and tried other mirrors but whenever I boot the disc up in my PS2 it's just a black screen.

I'm using the PS2 Mem card exploit, swapping the disc in launchelf and booting from the PS2 browser, this works with all of my other PSX backups (pal only).

Any ideas anyone?

FF VIII is protected, if the sub-channel file is missing it won't start. Here (http://megagames.com/psx/psx_patches_f.shtml) are a bunch of fixes for that problem, haen't tryed them yet, but a lot of ppl say they work.

Yes ive burned 4 CD's and now on the 5th i finally found the right protection fix.

1. Go HERE (http://megagames.com/console/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?id=psx&file=ff8ukv2!zip) to download the UK protection fix.
2. Go HERE (http://megagames.com/console/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?id=console&file=pdx-pom3!zip) now to download PPF-O-Matic3 so that you can insert the patch into the .img file
3. Don't use the ApplyPPF.exe because it doesnt recognise the .img file i think it only works on .bin files (you could always convert i guess)
Open PPF-O-Matic and apply the .img file to the corresponding ppf patch file
ie. FF8PAL1.ppf for disc 1, FF8PAL2.ppf for disc 2 and so on.

4. Now burn the game and no more black screen :)

OR you could just download the NTSC-U version which im pretty sure doesn't have the protection

cannot open file FF_VIII_D1.7z as archive ...

hey probably a real noob problem but im having problems getting the files to work, used 7-zip on the original files but the extracted files dont work either. if anyone can give me a decent step by step instructions on how to get these files to work on epsxe i would really appreciate it

You need to patch them.

Use PPF-o-matic to patch the ISO (with MDF files is working too).

This is only for the PAL - SPANISH version.

Hey there,

I know I'm probably a noob for asking, but for this game, how do I get it to work on a PlayStation?

I have my original PS, and used to have this game, but it broke, and now, when I burn the games with the Protection Fix added, and put it in, it just shows a playstation symbol and then an arrow pointing to a picture of the playstation itself.

I'm really cofused, and I would love to play this game on PS and bring back some good childhood memories.

If i play the game by using the disc 1 in this forum and when i finish disc 1 is it possible if i continue by using the original discs that i own?

If it's the same release as the one you have then yes....so if you have the original PAL release, and the links here are also for that then go ahead (for the record it would seem that this is the case and it should be ok to do what you intend).

You could always get the other discs from here if you do have a problem.

If it's the platinum version it may not (probably won't in that case)...your best bet would be to see if you can find an upload of the PAL Platinum release, but if you can't try this one, and then if you have problems just carry on with the other discs from here too.

I am also havin this problem with disc error when changing from disc 1 to 2. But I was able to fix it -I have original rip - riped with clone cd + subchannel data. The problem was easy to fix(about hour of searchin:) -i just need to enable subchannel data in plugin configuration menu (I use mooby2 cd disk image driver). The ppf patch didnt work for me(as it isnt for disc error problem). Now all cd's load without problem (very fast). Without riding subchannel data cd 2 didnt load wvia epsxe change disc, but few times load via file - run cdrom, butr it takes ages to load.

It's just as elraaz said. After the Sony logo and the Platstation logo, there's just a black screen. I've burnt it twice and the same thing happens. I'm downloading the mirror to see if that version actually works.
