Although Discworld II is considered by many gamers to be superior than its predecessor, it is unfortunate to hear that Pratchett himself has mixed feelings about the latest adaptation of his work.

Story
Discworld II is based upon the Discworld novels by Pratchett. In this installment, Rincewind's besotted attempts to disarm an assassin's bomb results in blowing Death off to a faraway and very pleasant place. It's so nice that Death doesn't want to go back to his job. This leaves all the dead souls attached to their corpses, running around as zombies. You play Rincewind, an incompetent wizard. It is your duty to find Death and convince him to return to work. Along the way you will produce a clickie (a movie in the Discworld universe), become a substitute for the Grim Reaper, and finally save Death's life (or whatever it is)!

Gameplay
Discworld II has a simple interface. You can look at an object or invoke action upon the object, and the context determines what that action is. This can result in simple games, but Discworld II avoids this by having a large number of objects, including many non-moveable red herring objects. The inventory is kept in a walking chest that follows Rincewind around, although Rincewind additionally has a very small personal inventory.

Verdict
Discworld II is a good, solid adventure. If you really love the Pythonesque humor, this is an outstanding game. If you're not crazy about that brand of humor, the game will drag on a bit in places. Overall, this is a very impressive production.
